Default Thoughts on Jonnie Candito strength program

Hi M&B.

Any thoughts on the Jonnie Candito Strength Hypertrophy program ?
I have been thinking about switching from Wendlers 5/3/1 due to the slow progression...

But wanted to hear if anyone had some experience about the program.

I love Wendlers program, but I find the heavy lifting aint frequent enough since you do 85% of your TM (90) for 3 reps...

If you want to lift heavy stuff, then you have to lift heavy stuff, right?

The program is free and can be found on his website..

I don't have any first hand experience with Candito's programs, but I've heard good things from a number of different sources. Guy's strong as hell too.

If you can't find any responses to it here you should be able to find plenty from elsewhere on the interwebs. His online following is not small.

I agree...

Like I stated earlier I feel like the Jim Wendler 531 BBB template dosent have me lifting heavy, often enough. But since I am only on my third cycle I cant harvest the gains made in the future. Ive heard a lot about Jim Wendlers program starting off to weak and gains to be made slowly.

So far. I have heard only good things about his program. His template is dope aswell and easy to follow.

At the risk of spreading 531 hate, I'm not a fan of it myself. I prefer higher frequency and I've had very good results from lifting heavy as much as possible. The one thing you see when you look at Candito's programs as how obvious it is that he's put tons of thought into everything. Of course, that doesn't necesarily mean it's any better than anything else, but it's still a positive in my book. You won't know if it works for you until you try it, so I say go for it and make sure to let us know how its working out.

I agree.

The main problem with 531 is that you aint lifting heavy often enough...

I could run the candito program for 6 weeks and go back to wendlers 531 if I dont see any Gains.

I have not done either but have opinions on both. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews of 531 but I think most of it has to do with the fact people jump on the program too early when they can still be progressing on lifting heavier more frequently. Other then that lifting basically once a week doesn't seem like a good idea for anyone wanting to really improve their strength or form. As for Candito, I have not heard a lot, but looking at its layout, would totally go for it and see how it runs.

Big fan of Candito and his videos and have only good things about his programming. It's not the most intense program in the world, but it's no walk in the park.

Depending on the number og reps you complete at the given weight, you have to do a certain amount of back off sets with 3 reps and 60 sec rest.

If you can do 10 reps. you are supposed to do 10 sets with 3 reps
If you can do 8 reps. you are supposed to do 8 sets with 3 reps

It is supposed to be a hatred workout.

Wendler's go heavy all days every week. Wendler is a 1000lb squatter with years of experience and Candito is not.

No disrespect to Candito but from what you're describing I think sticking to the program and letting the ego stay at home would be best bro.
