Default paused bench press ?

has anyone ever used a paused bench press to help with the bottom part of the lift like you would use paused squats ?

thanks

I never have personally.

In fact, if I paused at the bottom, I would've thought I'd likely not be able to get back up to the top again if I did that towards the last couple of sets.

I'll just leave this here:

In my opinion, being weak at the "bottom" of a bench press just means you aren't strong enough.

I've never really focused on them like I have paused squats. Usually, I'll just pause on my last rep or two just to make things harder, lol. But, this offseason I'm going to work paused benches more often and see what happens.

You cant go wrong with pause pressing. Recently I've started to do almost all my presses with a slight, 1 count, pause at the bottom. I lower the weight, count 1001 "in my head", and press up. I feel that 'pause dumbbell bench press' helps a lot, you really have to stay tight at the bottom or you'll lose it.

If you want to compete in powerlifting, yeah, do a lot of it. Otherwise, take your pick - maybe try it for a few months, see if it does anything much for ya.

It's the way to go...whether trying to build muscle or strength.

I always pause at the bottom of any press I do. If I can't get it at the bottom, I'm too weak.
