Weights were super light. They got changed day of, but I think they were 180, 200, 220. would have been no problem on my log i train with, but that one was insane.

i've been having trouble with a thick log at the same spot that you failed.
once i get it up i can bang out presses, but getting it to the shoulders is really tough. you know of any resources that can help with that move?

Practice mostly. Our 12" log is easy now, i used to stick at the same point with it. Also, I gripped a little too far back on this log, needed to be all the way to the front to get a quick rack to the shoulders. Finally, lots of chest work. People would be surprised how hard the chest gets hammered pushing the log into place if you don't get it all the way up from momentum

thanks.
when you say "all the way to the front" , do you mean the side that is away from your body when the log is on the ground?

Oh, right. Actually, when the log is on the ground, you want your hands close to you. Then when you rack the log, they are farther away. Having your hands in that position makes it easier to roll the log quickly.
