My take is this instead:

Starting early. And hard work, focus and dedication.

Genetics? Maybe they have played a small part. But IMO, too many people are too eager to put just about everything on that.


edit: Either way, what I can 100% agree on, is that's an amazing lift. Kudos!

I'm sure he has put in the blood sweat and tears to get where he is but at 17 years old how I wonder where he started out to be able to lift that much and still only weigh 146.

IMO genetics can be a huge factor! Of course hes worked his ass off to get that squat though. Proper leverages make a big difference in how much you can lift. As you can see from the video, he does a low bar squat and stays extremely upright. His torso is long and femurs short, which gives him amazing potential for the squat.

Yeah, I agree the genetic excuse gets over used in some circumstances. But I don't think one should disregard the genetic propensity to be strong/big/muscular/lean in any and all circumstances.
This kid is a freak.
