Burley Hawk

Easy 800 on opener.
2nd - 850 smokeshow! And plenty deep.
3rd - 900 freaking smokeshow, and buried.

Bench

Opener - 585 - smokeshow
2nd - 615 smokeshow
3rd - 650 missed. Lost it about 5 inches up. Wasn't there.

Deadlift

Opener - 805 - missed, dropped the bar after lockout. Looked difficult and was all back.
2nd - 805 good
3rd - pass. Ripped hand open.

It's not even borderline man. It was a mile high. I don't like it either. Sometimes I suspect they get passed not only because its a big lift, but because its a big name or a highly promoted event.

I'm no powerlifter but that kind of judging must piss of the likes of J. Byrd in particular who squat insane weight and expect competitors to be flagged for depth when necessary. Hoff is a ridiculously strong dude but that squat was so high it's not even debatable. He gets the record but under what circumstances?
That kind of judging is not on, IMO.

As for Burley Hawk, that 900 squat was one of the most impressive I have seen. He is what, 23, 24 years old? A complete, bonafide, beast if ever I saw one. The guy is 390+ pounds I think and around 6-5, 6-6? He didn't get the record today but his potential to smash it is clear.
