thanks so after all of this I am going to just keep on doing pretty much the same thing. I think im just going to start using upper lower each twice a week.

There is no need to hit a PR every time that you hit the gym. Just get a 1MR, then do a 5 x 5 or 5/3/1 or something like that for aprox 12 weeks, then check again for a new Max.

Is not smart to train heavy every day...and is very hard to train smart every time!!! How you like that? 1morerep2013

On a basic level, that is exactly what I do. Upper/lower twice a week per. Works real well for me. Check out some of the training log if you feel you need some inspiration.

I found "5x5" (of a sort) treated me pretty well for a while. Should get all your lifts up a bit, that's for sure.

In fact, some advanced guys (like, *way* the hell beyond where I'm at, lol) go back to a 5x5-ish thing from time to time. Or so I've heard.

Best of luck with it - and maybe you could keep track of progress in a log on the forum here, if you want some ongoing encouragement and feedback. Recommended.

5x5 is a solid choice and Dray is right about guys coming back to something similar. Some of my off season work looks pretty close to that.
