Blaine Sumner's squats from the weekend

Lots of hate on this. He got nothing but reds. What say you?

Hard to tell with the squats, he is close no matter what. It's over 1000 so I can see why he is a little bit folded over, but that makes it a little bit harder to see if he breaks parallel.

I'm just impressed with the double overhand pulls. Strong SOB.

LtL 06-24-2013 08:55 AM

That's hook grip not double over but yeah, damned strong. Personally I thought the first two were buried. For the front judge to call that high is somewhat laughable. Might have looked different from the side but front on they were in.

The first one was diff to depth, even by their standards! The 3rd one was prob close. Here is the real problem with all this. The front judge gave it reds! How!!!!!! No way that looked high from the front. The front judge is typically a give me!

at the end of the day one of the most impressive squats I have seen.

And another thing, how in the hell can you judge from 10-15 feet away. I want a judge on their knees looking and checking, not some jackass in a chair 15 feet away! I have respect for judges who do their best to watch the lift up close and personally. If I get a red then, I am ok with it!

sorry about the rant!

Agreed. Not sure what the front judge was seeing there. The definition of squat depth needs to be reviewed by these people. No bonus points for going lower and no negative repercussions from just breaking the line either.

Looked good to me, but what do I know?

BendtheBar 06-24-2013 09:12 AM

My opinion before reading other comments:

1009 - Buried
2nd 1009 - Buried
3rd 1009 - Hair higher but still good.

I wouldn't even call the first 2 close. They were easily below parallel.

very close and hard to tell on video. they aren't obviously high, but the angle makes it really hard to tell on video.

agreed on the front judge. what the hell was he calling on?
