I actually like pulldowns tbh if its just a case of getting some quick volume into my back. If I actually wanted to improve my strength in the upper back for anything else then chins/rows whatever style gets you off

Not trying to be a jerk or smart mouth, but why would you ever do any movement without the intention of improving strength, in one capacity or another?

Pretty much what Mr Big said. If you just needed to get some work in for size or if you wanted to offset pressing volume in an effort to keep shoulders in order.
