Bulgarian Split Squats

I am looking to substitute squats until i get my hips fixed, these feel pretty good. What kind of strength carry over do they have?

I do not know the exact answer to your question except to say JB includes them on his "BIG" program. I have also seen powerlifters here include them as assistance. If anything, they are good to get the blood flowing.

I found them to be tough and I underestimated them at first.

They are probably best used as a mass producer, which can have a carry-over effect. If hips are a problem, I'd look into a Trap Bar, it's easier on the hips and low back.

I use these a lot as assistance. They are brutal, but I am not sure how much carryover they have to squats.

I feel they focus mostly on quads, but help activate the glutes. They also stretch out the hip flexors.

I agree with offroad, they are a great mass producer, but unsure of carryover.

That's good, because mass moves weight. If you can't train the strength movements for a while then a focus on the mass movements will have "some" carryover.

What is wrong with your hips? Typically if you have an injury in that area, any kind of split leg or lunge-type exercise is agony.
