Question Is it ok to pause during Deadlifts?

Did week 2 of Madcow yesturday. On the last set I found myself pausing between each rep for atleast 10 seconds. Is this ok?

I always do a pause between reps to reset my form. Sometimes I will pause a few seconds to catch my breath.

Perfectly fine as long as you're progressing. I'm sure there was a good reason for the pause. It's all about the progress.

If you find you have it's because the weight is too heavy and you are struggling to get the reps, then you might need to modify things.

What was the cause? Mentally out of sorts? Out of breath?

Heavy weight. Program has us working at 85% on the last set of 5x5. But it was also a new 5x5 Pr because I never done 375lb for 5 reps. The thing is each week it goes up to 10lbs and I'm not sure if I will be able to do 385 for 5 next week but we will see My max is 450lbs.

What I would estimate my actual 1RM was when I was on 5/3/1 was around 475-485, and during one cycle I got 385 for 7 or 8, so I've got faith that you've got 5 in the bag. Rip it!
