Default Struggling with Squatting? Try this!

Most people do not know this but earlier on in my career I saw a one legged man doing leg presses and it got me thinking... Is there something that I can do to improve my squats and if so what is it?

I began to train with some of my assistance exercises in an isolation variant... An example of this would be to use one leg at a time for leg presses... obviously adjusting the weight for each leg and seeing what the imbalance is...

Within a few weeks I was noticing the difference in my base when I squatted! In other words I was noticeably getting stronger from doing the isolation exercises and improving on my imbalances within my legs!

I also do laying leg curls the same way (one leg at a time)

We always have to be looking for ways to improve our strength and I hope this is one aspect of strength training that helps somebody here even if it is a small food for thought kind of a nugget!

I have done one-legged presses before and they are killer - I certainly couldn't do even half the weight as a regular leg press. Bulgarian split squats are murder as well.

I don't have a leg press to hand, so I generally stick a KB over my foot which is a similar practice with each leg having to work in total isolation, though a lot more unstable and dangerous.
