Can you clean and press two 100lb dumbells?
A straightforward question, asked from idle curiosity.
Standing DB press seems such a basic movement, yet I never see anyone doing it. I've been trying them recently as a way of getting back into pressing. They seem a little kinder on my elbow and shoulder problems.
This got me wondering how many people on here can clean two 45kg/100lb DB from the floor and standing strict press them overhead.
If so, how many reps?
When my shoulder recovers this a bit more, I'll have a go, but I'm by no means hopeful.
230 strict press @ 220; bodyweight+187 X 4 dips @ 180; 403 front squat @ 210; 10 000 push-ups.
Ignoring irrelevant credentials since I was 17.

i can clean them from the floor but find it very hard to get in to postion to press over head, i always use a barbell. That it pretty impressive pressing with two 45kg db.

I don't know if I could clean them or not. But like Lee, I have problems getting heavy DBs into position for pressing

Never tried it with 45kgs but Ive used 41kgs for a set of 5, cleaned from the floor. Dont remember if I strict pressed or used a lil kneebend since its was some time ago.
I tried a one hand barbell clean and press not so long ago, its a humbling experience using a oly bar. Managed 50kg after a couple of tried =)

I do a variation of the one arm DB clean and press. It is called the one arm bent press. I can do 110lbs but I am working with barbells now and dropped it to 95lbs b/c of balance issues.
BW 229 lbs
Bench 325 (no pause) 285 (1 sec pause)
Clean & Jerk 225

That would be a worthy challenge. I don't think I could do it but it would be fun to work up to it. I'm going to put it on the list for later in the year.

A worthy challenge. I should probably find out if I can press the DBs before attempting to clean them.

Leave your ego at the door.
Prepare. Showing up dehydrated, hungry, and tired will guarantee failure.
Be ready to fight for that grinder of a PR.
Listen and learn. Absorb everything you can, and assimilate that knowledge.

I've done 80's. If I had access to dumbells I'd do more pressing. BB's hurt my shoulders.

I've power cleaned and strict pressed 60kg (~132lbs)! Um, yeah, so not all that close, really.
Dumbbells, I suspect I could do 2 x 30kg, because I used to do DB press, and I should still be able to do a decent weight with them (relative to my other lifts, I mean). Then again, I used to press one at a time, so... not so sure. :/
edit: I can push press a good deal more than that, but 200lbs might be a bit much, even so, lol.
