No, obviously...but, for anyone that can access KBs, they make an ideal double clean and OHP item, easier to get into position than DBs, if any gym has a sufficiently weighted one, that is.

That's interesting. Kettle bells always look incredibly difficult to me, but then I have no experience of them. I bet there aren't many gyms have 45kg KBs.

I've been thinking about this and I don't believe I've ever got close to this (not that I've tried). I've clean and strict pressed 100kg (220) on a bar for several reps, but I don't think that this equates to two 50kg bells, or even two 40 kg bells. Seated press might be a different matter.

For those who have done 45 kg one handed, I'd be interested to know how this compares.

Edit to add: There are some really strong pressers on MAB who I reckon could do this comfortably. I reckon Miked96 could knock out some reps, for example.

No.

I have done 40kg many moons ago. However I rarely do any OHP for the last half a decade and struggle to press bodyweight on a bar... which is the total weight you are talking about.

The clean would be the hardest part.

Finally managed this today.

46kg (101.4 lbs) X 1

I've been training DB clean and press for a little while. The 46s have been sitting there mocking me from the DB rack. Managed three reps with 42s (93s), so thought I would give it a go.

Definitely strict - no leg drive on the press.

Mission accomplished.

I've been dabbling with seated one arms on occasion the past year. I think after my upcoming meet I might take the dumbbells outside and see how weak I am.

Most likely I would be lucky to hit a rep with 60s or 70s.

Thanks people.

Steve - I think you'd do it comfortably once you'd got used to the clean. Or maybe without getting used to it.

The clean is definitely the most challenging part for me. I hit my peak with seated dumbbell presses back in 1998, and was somehow able to clean two 120s into place.

These days cleaning anything above 80 seems much more difficult than when I was a young buck. I seem to be back peddling.

But I am up for a challenge. The overhead press gets little love these days, but it's one of my favorite movement variations.
