My athlete!!!

alright here's my rant...a high schooler that I've
coached all summer for powerlifting
has started lifting for his school. His lifts were very
respectable for his age/weight, and we were very
fortunate to have no injuries! So today, he comes in
after practice and tells me that he got hurt squatting
a weight that we did for reps because the"coach"
wanted him to touch the bar to the pins!!!! He had a
knot on the back of his head where the bar hit him.
This frustrates me because this "coach" has no idea
what he is doing!!! What would you do if you saw
your athlete, being mislead under the guidance of the
high school coach?

Well I'd tell you what I think, but I'm afraid you'd do it! I'm not going to be responsible for unleashing the BEAST!!! That sucks, for both of you!

You might try having a chat with the coach and tell him the kid is training for competetion and that any addition weight training may hinder that ... if the coach is not a total ego maniac... I would hope he would adjust the kid's training. If he is an ego maniac and a horse's rump.... squash him ha ha Or just embarass him with facts and data versus his bro science coaching.... or squash him!!

Coach the athlete through the situation. Show him how to deal with stupid requests in the future. Taking on the coach will probably not end well and it's a good lesson for your student. You wouldn't let some idiot tell you to do something that might get you hurt, teach your student the same values.
