That's how I read it too.

I don't know if this counts as PAP, but a lot of lifters are familiar with the enhanced performance on their back-off sets. Quite often, I've hit rep PBs after I've done a very heavy single, especially on deadlifts

Yes, I was going to note that I believe Louie teaches explosive first with regards to DE work. I know we just a conversation like this recently somewhere on the board.

Louie trains a lot of athletes so I would be interested to hear if explosive first applies beyond the DE strength work realm, or not.

I also know one of the big strength coaches (maybe Starr?) taught explosively pulling first in routines. Might not be Starr.

In any case, interesting topic.

I haven't figured out if the "post-activation" part only relates to explosive training, or and performance training in general. I thought about back-off sets too when I first read this, simply because of how light the weight feels due to CNS stimulation.

Chad Waterbury mentioned something like this as well - in reference to supramaximal holds or walkouts.

It would seem to me that energy would be best conserved and singles/doubles simply practiced more often in the course of regular training.

I do holds before my first rep on every squat set. I did a 20 second hold before my 575 rep this week. I like kicking my CNS on squats as much as possible.
