"Eat Big" ...What does it mean?
Someone asked me today, so I thought I would toss this out and let every chime in.


what do you mean by eat big?
When you tell someone to "eat big", what does it mean?

If someone needs to "eat big", how should they eat?

Eat like a horse. Eat every 3 or 4 hours. Eat big ass meals at least 3 times a day. Eat even when your brain is telling you that you don't need to.
That's what it means to me.

I am reminded of the time I was complaining to a friend about how hard I was trying to get my weight up to 300 pounds and how tough it was for me to eat so much, and boo-hoo-hoo. The friend looked at me, clearly fed up with my whining, and remarked "I see several people over 300 lbs at work (he was a physical therapist) and they really don't seem to be trying all that hard! They weigh 300 and they don't try!"

This put it in better perspective for me. I even had the advantage of working out with weights to help boost my weight and these guys were out eating me and my best effort without so much as a second thought. If people can do it on accident, I could certainly do it on purpose! And I did. So can you.

Eating big, to me means:
  1. 1.5-2 pounds of meat a day (chicken, beef and/or fish)
  2. A sweet potato, quinoa or brown rice with every meal
  3. Spinach, steamed green beans, or broccoli with every meal
  4. Mixing whey in where ever you can: Pancake/waffle mix, OJ, coffee
  5. Butter on veggies and olive oil in shakes
  6. A shake Post-Work Out and probably before bed
  7. Having to struggle to eat each meal at each sitting
  8. Never feeling hungry; almost always feeling like you have a full stomach

Very simply, it means eating enough quality food to see the scale move in a positive direction. Scale not moving up? Eat more! Simple.

Eating about 2/3 what I want to. Sample day goes like this:

5-6 plates at the golden corral for breakfast

Half a dozen eggs and lots of bacon in a burrito. Add 4 oz cheese and sour cream

Plate of nachos, 4 tacos, and a 2 pound+ burrito for lunch

Spaghetti w/ 24 oz heavy meat sauce for second lunch

2 large deep dish pizzas for dinner

Blender Bomb of 2 bananas, 2 scoops whey, 2/3 cup PB, 1 cup heavy cream pre-bed
