What is the minimal amount of fat you should be taking in to have your body function as it should be?

need your stats dude and what do you mean "as it should be"...as it should be in a cut? in a bulk? in real life? on the internet?

As with most questions like these: It depends. And, can you define what "as it should be" means? I get blanket questions all the time through e-mails. Dependent on the person's current physical disposition, medical history (or no), goal wants, and other factors, I always set up diets particular to the person. Though the basic mechanics are the same (calorie, macro, etc), how this is "manipulated", however, is not. Get more specific, and you will obtain more specific answers to what you are asking.

It is depend upon body structure, weight, gender, height. Fat is important for body at a normal level. But if it increase then it create many hidden and open problems for body and become harmful in proper organic functions. In my personal opinion 2% to 2.5% fat must be contain in a body. It is an other source of energy if you could not eating at proper time.

Generally, fat is seen as a percentage of your overall intake, so the more food a person consumes, the more fat they will consume to keep the ratios in balance.

Though, for certain people that have particular medical conditions, fat intakes at lower levels are more desirable. 15% to 20% is a decent range for fat intake, though 10% is also adhered to by some. It has to be remembered though that fat intake is also correlated to specific sports as well and some sportsmen/women consume lower levels of fat depending on what sport they are doing.

20% seems to be an average percentage of total calories that weight lifters use, though, it can also be higher or lower than that.
