Default Scary Fact

I have seen a lot about soda pop on here. I just read an article the other day that stated just one soda a day will up your risk for a heart attack by 20%. And if you have 2 or 3 a day you are damaging your heart even more.

Well I'm on beta blockers so there must be some truth to this.

I think heart attacks are mostly hereditary. That's JMO. If it's in your genes you're likely to have one, but if you have a healthy family you can get away with just a little more.

Could you elaborate further?

I would agree with the hereditary angle (and of course, certain medications can increase the chances as well, though it could be the medical condition for which the medication is being prescribed that is the cause and not the medication itself, possibly) because there are so many people that would seemingly fall into the category for heart attack and yet never have one.

I was mostly joking. I drink a lot of soda, which in turn has a lot of caffeine, which spikes my blood pressure and heart rate up.

Soda, however, is not the primary reason for my hypertension or tachycardia; it is hereditary in my family.

Compromise the fact that the disease is hereditary with my poor eating habits and lack of cardio, and you have a high risk of heart attack.

These days everything is bad for you. Soda is a very unhealthy habit to get into but so many people drink it these days. My boss even takes one bottle to bed with her.
