Default Donating Blood

I am donating blood for the first time at the end of the week. What will I need to eat before giving and what should I eat after giving?

I don't think it matters. Maybe drink plenty of fluids(non-alcohol) prior to. They give you cookies after. Donating blood does drop your iron level some, but not to much. Eat some iron rich foods that night.

They give you OJ and cookies afterwards! Pretty awesome unless you are on a cutting diet... like me Drink plenty of water before hand and you should be fine!

Sugar. Don't worry about it too much, just drink and eat before you go and they'll give you stuff for afterwards. I kinda enjoy doing it, makes me feel good.

Drink plenty of water before. I almost double my water the days i donate. I also eat iron rich foods as my hemoglobin levels are on the botton end of normal range. If hemoglobin is out of limits they WILL NOT let you donate. I usually eat like a spinach salad night before and almonds morning off.

They give you plenty of food after so its all good I always go for sandwiches and veggies NOT the sugary cookies.

Good for you. Drink lots of water and then after you give blood sit and rest and drink up the OJ and cookies or treats they have for you.
