Default Cinnamon

Does anyone know if cinnamon helps you loose weight? I was told that it stablizes your blood sugar levels. Is this correct?

Theres a lot to it but in basic terms yes, this is true.

I've heard the bit about the blood sugar levels, not heard anything about the weight loss aspect though. Of course, the issue is in getting the 1-2 teaspoons into the system...not really the sort of thing you can take by the spoonful (I tried it ) and mixing it with other stuff makes everything taste of cinnamon, but where there's a will there's a way, and it can be done.

Chromium does more to stabilize my blood sugar than cinnamon does, but cinnamon does seem to help by a few points. I take both at the same time these days and get decent results.

Cinnamon helps lower cholesterol too, that's why I was advised to take it. I didn't know about the blood sugar benefit too.

I put it in coffee (spoonful per pot) and it doesn't overpower the coffee too much, and I add it to oatmeal and cereal and smoothies of course. Heck, I've put it in chili too. I think it's easy to slip into foods, but then again I like the taste of it.

I tried to eat a tablespoon once as a dare. I do not think that it can be done. It was awful.

Not to any meaningful extent. Don't look to little "tricks" like these to lose weight. Its hard work between dieting and exercise - don't let anyone fool you into high hopes that its anything but those two.

Reality sucks.

I'm with Shadow on this. If you have problems with blood sugar stability, cinnamon and chromium can help a little. If the blood sugar problems are part of what is keeping you overweight, then yes, these will aid slightly in weight loss. Otherwise, you probably won't notice a difference in weight loss.
