Hypothetical Diet Situation

You have a teen hardgainer who weighs 120-130 pounds. Average or below average height.

Without getting into all the possible variations, and assuming he is training hard, just off the top of your head how many calories do you think he might need to eat each day to add, say, 1-2 pounds a month?

(You can provide a range if you'd like...)

dont know about range, but when he wakes up he should start eating and not stop until he goes ot bed. and im being pretty litteral.

I would say at least about 3000+ calories, cos at 130lbs he aint very big !!

Thanks guys.

The reason I ask is because I see people making recommendations off calculators, no disrespect meant to them, and they are obscenely low because of the person's weight.

Also, having been a skinny teen hardgainer, I know first hand that I could eat sun up to sun down and still not gain much, if any weight.

I think calculators spit out around 2000-2200 cals per day for these folks.

Honestly, to go off what Titan said, When I was losing weight or even bulking back up back in the day, I didnt count shit. If I was losing weight I shrunk my portions, stopped eating garbage, and ate more times a day, all while keeping the same workout routine. If I were bulking, I ate the same amount a day 5-6 meals, ate greater portions of protein with each meal, and limited my garbage food to 2-3 times a week. People THINK to much resulting in no productive THINKING at all.

Dieting isnt hard if you're not overthinking it.

But if I had to throw out numbers for a 130-140lber It would be around 2800-3200.

If you have someone like that, just start him off at a certain number...that number can always be changed
