Favorite Pre workout meal?
What's everyone's favorite pre workout meal?
I usually train first thing in the day, so I make a smoothie about 90 - 120 minutes before lifting.
2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp flax oil
1 - 1.5 scoops whey protein
1/2 cup oats
1 cup of preferred frozen fruit, usually berries or mangoes
2 cups water or 1 1/2 cups juice
It has been working for me awhile but I am starting to get sick of it. Need something that will fuel an intense session.
Honestly lately what I've been doing is one of the following....
If I train early (after first meal):
3 whole eggs
3 egg whites
1 bagel w/ pb
20 oz milk
And If I'm training later in the day....
2 lbs ground turkey
1 box creamy four cheese riceroni
That right there makes a few meals. I typically eat it pre, post, and then one other meal. A quick warning though, this meal is THE SHIT and you will get addicted and never go back to eating anything else ever again. ;) GAINZ CITY.
Eggs on wholemeal toast. Coffee.
4 slice ezekial bread
Two cups Greek yogurt
And for my extra free cals it's been
Two cups lucky charms + two cups cookie crisp
With a diet Root Beer ;)
Anymore the only thing I ingest preworkout is Optimum Nutritions Amino Energy. More often than not there is a gap of 3-5 hours since my last meal when I lift or I lift fasted first thing in the morning.
because every workout I'm doing either squats or deadlifts, food swilling around in my stomach isn't a good idea for me personally. just makes me feel sick.
I suppose it's the compression on the abdomen or something that's intensified with those lifts in particular.
Half an hour before I tend to have a banana or something, but in terms of a pre workout meal, they just don't work for me.
Some sort of lean protein (chicken, turkey, lean beef)

I work out in the late afternoon. I consume a pre-workout snack about an hour before. I like to have something liquidly, so I consume a bowl of cold cereal. I use a natural brand like Barbara’s. I use ¾ scoop of protein powder instead of milk. I also add a small handful of raisins, and an even smaller handful of nuts (for some fat to ward off hunger). I put all of these in a bowl, cover it, and keep it by my work desk. Then I add cold water when I am ready to eat it.
if i'm pressed for time...Banana, almond butter, and honey. One of the greatest combos ever!!
1.5-1 hr befor workout - Rib-eye Steak Med Rare,Saute mushrooms in olive oil and butter,My succotash, Sweet potato
1/2hr before workout - Dates and cashews
My succotash is Everything is sauteed in coconut oil and butter
Put in pan in this order for correct texture on med low heat
Coconut oil 2 tbls.
Butter 1 tbls.
Chopped red onion
2 shakes of red pepper flakes
1 smashed and diced Garlic Clove
1 teaspoon ginger powder
wait 2 min
Diced 1/2 Bell Pepper any color you like
1 Can of premium kernel corn
wait 1 min
1 Cup Sliced Mushrooms
1 Can of Lima Beans the green ones
Sea Salt and pepper too taste
