What healthy food should you buy?
Vegetables and fruits: it is very important that you acquire these products since it is the essential part of a healthy diet.
Whole grain products
Fish, poultry and lean meats: these are the types of meats that you should be acquiring since are the healthiest for you. Avoid breaded and fried meats.
Legumes eggs and nuts are some other proteins that are good for your body; try to acquire them as well.
Drinks: try to drink water as much as you can, you can also buy low fat milk and herbal teas. If you are the soda type of person its either try to avoid them as much as you can or get the light ones.
Frozen products: Choose the ones which are healthy; vegetable portions, protein and make sure you are not acquiring a high fat frozen meal.
Condiments, oil and dressings: I would give two descriptions for these: they are sources of refined sugar and poor quality oils.
Desserts: just because some products are low fat doesnt mean they are not good desserts. Try getting fresh fruits and some healthy nuts. There is light ice-cream as well in case you are an ice cream lover.

Paleo diet is your friend. The real kick in the crotch with eating healthy is that it cost more to eat healthy than to eat crap food. Still, if you don't mind having some of the ssame things fairly oftern you can eat healthy and then have some splurges a few times a week.
Frozen veggies are a better cost than fresh, and I always look for the weekly sales on meats. This saves a lot of money.

Sales on meats can definitely save you a lot of money, also buying your meat in bulk and then freezing it in individual portions can be very cost efficient. And also convenient when you are cooking for one person.
I prefer fresh vegetable just because I can snack on them whenever and they are also usually on sale at one of the many grocery stores. I am nowhere near a health food fanatic I just try to eat healthy most of the time, this seems to work great for me. I definitely feel like if I eat healthy all day, I will have a better workout.
