Default creatine help???

Started taking creatine about 11 days ago & over the last 5 days I've had stomach cramps and have spent a lot of time on the toilet. Will this pass or should I just stop taking it right now?
Thanks
Chris

How much are you taking? What kind are you taking? Are you drinking enough water? Empty stomach or not? What other supps are you taking? Would like to help but there are too many variables that you havent shared.

Are you loading and cycling or just taking 5 - 10 gs a day?

Apologies. I'm using reflex's creapure creatine monohydrate powder. I take one serving (using the measuring scoop) either after I train with 2 scoops of whey blebded with water and oats or on non-training days I take one serving in the morning with my first 2 scoops of whey in water. Besides that I only use whey and zma. I drink between 4-8 litres of water a day. Yes on an empty stomach.

i've found in the past that this is a symptom of poor quality creatine. Having said that, creapure is usually good to go, so that shouldn't be the issue.
I would be interested in knowing what that serving size is that you are taking?
Also, did you start or change any supplements around that time? I've had certain brands of whey not sit right with me.

I'm taking 5mg a day. Didn't do a loading phase and haven't changed a thing supplement or nutrition wise.

Well, if it were me, I would quit taking it for a few days and see if the intestinal issues clear up. A few days won't make that big of an impact on the grand scheme of things.

I've never had stomach cramps from creatine, but when I use to take mono it would make my stomach a little uneasy. To the point where it effected my workout. I switched to Kre Alkalyn pills and haven't had any issue since.

Creatine - the gateway steroid

I personally dont buy the different kind of creatine garbage (when i say that i mean like... "ph balanced creatine" etc. just make sure its gool ol fashioned creatine monohydrate), its all you need.
Loading is also bogus, 5mg a day is plenty -- unless your on juice (from what i have seen those who pin seem to take 20mg of creatine a day (odds are its wasteful but they have the cash)

If your getting cramps, your probably not drinking enough water in general not a creatine thing and/or something wrong with your diet potassium etc,

anecdotal: I take creatine daily and dont even bother cycling it. ever. 5mg with my beta alanine, its my version of morning coffee. I just use basic creatine mono by 4everfit, super cheap.

Considering these new published findings, little evidence exists that creatine supplementation in the heat presents additional risk, and this should be taken into consideration as position statements and other related documents are published.
drink more water, eat more food. I personally train fasted and never cramp so thats just me.

That info helps thanks a lot. I've started taking it only on days when I workout & I seem fine now. Maybe I just had to get used to it.
