Maintaining diet while away?
Hey everyone,

I'm going to be out of the gym for about 6 weeks because of job responsibilities...and was wondering, should I maintain my high levels of protein intake? Or better question, how do you guys modify your diet (if you do) when you know you're not going to be in the weight room for while.

I always try to eat higher protein, even when I am away from the gym. When that isn't possible for whatever reasons (say driving), then I go for pure calories next.

I don't mean I try to overeat, but when the protein isn't there, I simply try to hit my calorie levels however I can.

Not sure if you are driving, but if so take a small cooler with string cheese, almonds and beef jerky. This is usually my road/snack food.

I always have a stash of almonds with me. They are a great snack and very portable.

No weight room Id keep carbs to minimum. Keep protein high.

Personally I find it very hard to stay on point with my diet when I'm not able to train for an extended period of time. It's just the way I am but certainly doesn't mean you can't do it.

Keeping a higher percentage of your calories as protein should definitely help you maintain. Try to some type of training even if its just body weight exercises to keep those muscle fibers active.

I would lower my calories too since you won't need the same amount as when you are able to train as normal.
