Wholewheat has some advantages, vitamins, fibre etc.
White, refined flour, bread can also have more advantages than the wholewheat versions because some countries laws stipulate that they have to be enriched with vitamins, so they have more vitamin potential than their wholewheat counterparts; best to read the packages on white bread products. The difference in fibre is usually not that great an amount per slice, once again check the packaging.
Brown bread, which some mistake for wholewheat, is in fact just white bread with molasses added for the colour and a bit of flavour.
There are also 50/50 brands where you get the best of both worlds, which are great for those that don't fully enjoy the taste and/or texture of wholewheat and can also be used as a way to swap across gradually, if that's what a person wants to do.
