Cardio and weights

Can I do cardio and weights on the same day? Or do you recommend doing them on different days? I am just starting out and do not really lift a lot yet but I am sure that as I get stronger and do more, I will not want to do cardio on the same days. But for now is it all right?

It is too much to do both. Doing both will raise your cortisol levels if you do cardio after a long lift session. Plus you can get inflammation. Avoid it.

I do conditioning directly after my workouts. That leaves my off days to just rest and recover. But of course I'm not running 30 miles a week :)

I think you can do both especially as a beginner. Just train as much as you want for a while, it will not make that big of difference for a while.

Most of my training career I have had to do serious conditioning for sports. For example, I would lift right after 2 hour rugby practices which were basically 2 hours of conditioning. Sometimes I would lift right before rugby practice. Rugby has the most serious conditioning I have ever seen. So I think you can do it as long as you eat enough and sleep enough.

Everytime in the past I've done conditioning after workout I've lost strength, so now I do my conditioning on my off days.

Lets keep in my mind, my conditioning was basically just boxing.

As a beginner it may not hurt you. Once you start lifting more and more you may not wish to do it. I guess just see how you feel.
