Pendlay and Starr are probably my two favorites when it comes to quality reads. They always have a bit of spunk in their articles that provide a good laugh. Pendlay more so than Starr.

Training 3 times per week with whole body workouts is a good place to start for a beginner. Staying relatively close to this will serve most people well. Training 2 times per week with whole body workouts has worked for many people, and if you cant do 3 times is a viable option. Maybe not ideal, but viable. While whole body workouts are a proven method, a simple split that still allows big, multi-joint exercises also works
Sums it up for me.

As I stated to Ltl this morning (excuse the expletives):

A split is just the basics with extra sh*t put in. Extra sh*t doesn't need to be put in unless the basic sh*t is working well. If the basic sh*t isn't working, extra sh*t is just double extra sh*t.

Point being...if you can't gain on the basics, something is broken.

From what I can see, it is more of a HST approach. Even though I hate HST, chances are that this kind of program will work, especially for the begginers.
However, from my experience, it is likely to work mainly for people who are endo and mesomorph types rather for the skinny ones.

Why would training differ due to body type?

My answer is based only on my personal experience.
High volume has always worked for the solid guys and gals, while low volume training (and high volume eating) worket better for the thinner ones.

Endo/Meso/Ecto were all classifications based on a now discarded psychological model which attempted to draw assumptions about personality type based on physical condition.

It was a flawed theory back then, it is a flawed concept now. Attempting to use it in a setting such as bodybuilding which it was never meant to, is doubly flawed.

Just leave it in the past.
