Latin people used to say "Repetitio mater studiorum est".
In other words, repetition is the mother of learning. On this reasoning, the more chin ups you do in a short period of time, the more you will be able to do in the future.
It's simple. After all, it's functional training....and you don't need too many knowledge to increase your numbers. Just persistance.

When I first started doing chin ups, I could only muster a few out. I gradually worked my way up and can do more than I would have ever expected to do.

I doubt I can even do one chin up. I only weigh like 125 pounds and am so scrawny. I really want to pump it up and work on this, so that is I guess why I am on this site. One day I will be able to say I did many chin ups.
