No. A Kroc row is an all out, one set to insanity with heavy weight, high reps blitzing where weight moved is more important than the mind muscle connection. Or something like this.

I have always thought Kroc rows to be to DB rowing, like 20 reppers are to squats.

Take your usual 10 rep max and just keep going untill you pass out

100% correct. Kroc invented them as he was too strong for the puny dumbells and could do 10 rep sets no problem.

Matt started doing dumbbell rows with the heaviest dumbbell in the gym. His main goal was hitting a rep PR because the weight was limited. About 2 minutes into this video Matt talks about when he first started using dumbbell rows.

He also talks about rows and lockout strength.

I think Kroc rows have taken on a meaning beyond what they are. Matt was one of the first powerlifters that I know of to focus on heavy dumbbell rows, and because most gyms are limited with weight, he was forced to go for rep PRs with the heaviest at the gym. Somewhere Elite started calling these "Kroc rows" and they took on a life of their own. I've never heard of a 10RM being connected with them though I certainly could be wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The day I forgot about form and just pulled the heaviest weight I could as high as I could by any (reasonable) means necesary was the day before felt my first soreness in my upper back.

If ever there was a movement where heavy weight and max effort were more important than form, this is it.

I agree 100%. If you try to baby the weight up, you'll get no where.
