Cronus Live Feed: Tonight @ 7 PM Eastern

The Cronus on USTREAM: Cronus "Gods of the Stage": The FIRST multi-affiliated natural bodybuilding world championship! The world champion takes home $10,0...

12 Competitors from different natural bodybuilding federations. Not too many well-known names except for a few due to it being the first year/the WNBF did not allow their athletes to compete in it. Shaun Clarida was supposed to be in it but he backed out. Regardless, should be pretty cool to see this, it is a step in the right direction towards a unified league.

It's live now. I'm not sure who it is but one guy showed up with bad conditioning, the rest look pretty good. It's gonna be close between a few guys.

Taking a look.

Just checked out the list. Some good names.

What is the criteria for "natural"?

Nevermind:

Every athlete will be tested on arrival and prior to finals by urinalysis. We do not believe polygraphs are acceptable as, by law, we cannot restrict someone’s professional opportunities based on something NOT admissible in a court of law. We also perform a physical screening and have demerits on our score sheets for having an un-natural physique. All of our judges have been in this industry for a long time and can certainly tell the difference.
"Certainly"...This makes me a bit uneasy. The chairman of a very major federation recently stood up for a ripped 5'10" 210 lifter being natural. I don't mean to sound cynical. I am simply not a fan of this standard.

I also don't like the exclusion of polygraph either. "Physique screening" can only go so far.

I think these are interesting topics. There is a lot of money on the line.

Not trying to poke a wasp's nest. Just trying to figure out the contest dynamics.

Yeah he talks about the polygraph not being able to be used for legal reasoning. He actually says some pretty surprising stuff in this interview on Natural Bodybuilding Radio. The female competitor on the show started getting pissed at him and his rebuttals were interesting. He said they contacted some of the higher level guys and that they would fail the drug testing of the Cronus had they signed up.

Jason Powell Introduces “The Cronus” : Natural Bodybuilding Radio

He talks about the polygraph and testing a bit in the intro video as well:

Kiyoshi Moody was in the chat last night and said he was gonna sign up and get in for next year, so if he does it I'm sure some other big names will follow. If it really takes off hopefully WNBF pardons their athletes to compete in it, otherwise it would be shortlived I think. 10k is a lot of money though...it's just a shame their weren't as many high caliber athletes for the first show. I don't think they could have another turnout like that and keep it financially stable.

I looked into Jason Powell a bit though a while back as I was unsure of his natural status. I think this interview sums it up. He has elite genetics and was a world class martial artist at a very young age and then his training transitioned over to bodybuilding after an injury I believe.

For those who didn't watch, Cleveland Thomas one. It was quite obvious. Shaun Clarida, Darrin Steen and another guy dropped out. I think Shaun had a back injury and Darrin suffered a hernia or something. Forget what happened with the other guy. I had the #2 and 3 spots as different competitors but solid judging I'd say.

I believe they have a rerun of the show in the link I posted.
