Marvin Eder Workout

Secrets Of The Man Who Did 80 Chin Ups

Secrets Of The Man Who Did 80 Chin Ups

Quote:

At a bodyweight of around 190-200 pounds, Marvin Eder could do 80 consecutive chin-ups.

He could bench press over 500 pounds and sported 19-inch arms on a 5’8 frame.

Oh, and did I mention these lifts were all done way back in the 1940′s? Marvin combined bodybuilding training, with power lifting and olympic lifting. The result? He not only LOOKED strong. He WAS strong.

Here is one of the actual workout plans Marvin Eder used to build his phenomenal power and mass.

Marvin Eder Power Training Workout

Squats
Bench Press
Rows
Overhead Press
Pulldowns (or chins)
Dumbbell Curls
100 sit ups or leg raises.

Perform the following exercises 3 times per week on non-consecutive days. (ie: Monday, Wed, Friday)

Sets & Reps:

Weeks 1 and 2: 3 sets of 8 reps for each exercise before moving to the next exercise.
Weeks 3 and 4: Increase the weights and do 4 sets of 6.
Week 5: Drop the poundage a bit and do 3 sets of 10. Do not approach failure on any rep during this week.
Weeks 6-10: Increase the weights and do 5 sets of 5 for each exercise.
Week 11: Drop the poundage and do 3 sets of 10. Do not approach failure on any rep during this week.
Weeks 12-16: Increase the weight and do 3 sets of 3 for each exercise, then decrease the weight and do 3 more sets of 8 reps of each exercise. So you would start off with 3 sets of 3 reps on the squats, then decrease the weight and do 3 sets of 8 reps in the squat. Then repeat the set and rep scheme with all other exercises.

If you can complete this 4 month program, you will deserve a full 1-2 weeks off with no training. You’ll also enjoy a massive increase in size and power. As legend has it, one man claimed he gained 30 pounds and increased his bench by almost 100 pounds in 3 months with this type of training.

Be sure to eat plenty of protein and whole foods on this type of routine. You may also wish to consider supplementing your diet with the same natural enzymes Marvin Eder himself used to aid digestion and boost recovery.

What kind of enzymes? Where can we find it?
Any other tips on food/supplements which boost recovery?

I believe it was bromelain.

Bromelain was first introduced as a therapeutic supplement in 1957. Research on bromelain apparently was first conducted in Hawaii but more recently has been conducted in countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Germany has recently taken a great interest in bromelain research; bromelain is currently the 13th most widely used herbal medicine in Germany.

Eder was the man. PERIOD. IMO the most beastly of the old time beasts and a far more aesthetic and functional physique than any of the BB'ers API (After pumping Iron)
