I do both variation but like Olympic grip way better for form & strength (assistance for overhead push press) but cross grip is easier to do. Some people use staps to get the Olympic set up but without the wrist strain.

Heres a video of me doing front squats:

And a video of my Friend doing them:

I do both Front Squats and Zercher Squats after my 531 sets. I do 3 sets of each as part of the Boring But Big assistance template. I use a clean grip. If you point your elbows in towards each other it takes alot of the stress off your wrists. I started with very light weight (95 lbs) and have progressed to 200 lbs by increases of 5 lbs per week. I found my wrists gradually adjusted this way. Same sort of progression scheme with the Zerchers made my elbow cradles happy. here's a great reference article on Front Squats:

Haha - the system won't let me post the link until I have had 15 posts - how silly is that? Anyway, it is at stonglifts.com. search the site "how to front squat with proper technique"

I've also tried both grip variations, like others, but feel more comfortable and more secure with the cross arm grip, for some reason it permits me to stay more upright whereas when I use the olympic style grip, I tend to want to fall forwards, which could just be a mental thing.
