Well I always say training is a matter of priority. If you bust your balls on the major compound lifts, there shouldn't be much gas in the tank to play with isolation overkill.

I swear, if I see another chest workout with cable crossovers, pec dec and flyes (in the same training day), and avoiding dips and dumbbell bench, I'm going to out my head through the wall.

works well for me at my gym because i hardlly ever have to weight for equipment... yesterday i had to work in with poeple two different times ... once on flat db presses where two guys that were ligt with each other were doing lying single arm cross body tricep extensions w/ 15's i believe... wouldnt be that big of a deal but they used the two flat bench we have in front of the db rack at the same time... so i just told them i was gonna work in... that was there first exercise aswell... then i had to work in with a high school kid that was starting his routine with some cable PRESSES... i just worked in and did my pressdowns and moved on

i wanna tell guise at my gym just starting out that those isolation movements arnt going to get them to were they wanna be.... but i will only say this if they ask... because nobody wants to listen to a "know-it-all" lol

For years, I followed the programs based on isolation exercises and made small gains.

I have made more gains in the last six months doing PL based workouts than I had in the previous 5 years doing Isolation Workouts.

So, you can teach an old dog new tricks ... even if the tricks are old school.
