Ha! My laugh for today.

This month I had a beginning trainee ask me about the program I ran when I was a newb. I provided them with the program. A month later they emailed and asked how long I ran the program, and if they should now try something different.

I responded by saying that I ran the same program on and off for 2 decades.

Ha! Can't wait to get the response back from that email.

You're right.

He just responded seconds ago by asking how often he should switch exercises.. My response was:

Quote:

I don't change exercises. Sometimes I alternate 2 exercises week to week, like incline dumbbell bench and incline barbell press.

Quite frankly I don't believe in muscle confusion or switching exercises in the context of muscle building.

I did write back and say this:

Quote:

I'm not saying you can't change exercises or routines to stave off boredom - far from it. I simply don't believe that change is needed for progress.
(In the context of muscle building)

If I don't confuse my muscles then how will I get them grow?

IronManlet 07-16-2010 11:37 AM

Hahaha! Awesome.

I want to run Chaos and Pain until I die.

That will be sure to confuse your muscles. I think the act of not confusing them, in and of itself, is an act of confusion. So by not confusing your muscles, you are actually performing a super-duper, around the back sneak attack, and confusing your muscles!

Yeah, muscles do two things: contract and relax. It's not some strategic chess game whereby you have to outwit muscle fibers that each house their own superior intelligence centers.

You bust 'em, then you let 'em grow, rinse and repeat.
