Default York Barbell - Anyone done it???

I'm curious about the York Barbell method, how effective is it in terms of physique? In terms of strength? I'm considering moving to an on/off or 3 gym days/2 gymless days using the York method to get some consistency while balancing home life. I haven't been too great with getting my 5-6 workouts a week lately and see this as a possible solution. I probably would do a bit different rep scheme with 3-5 sets of 5 on most exercises and probably superset pairs of exercises to save time. Thoughts???

Which specific York routine are you looking at? Do you have the details? I know we have several on the site, but not sure if the one you are looking at is here or not...

I haven't tried it.

I think your approach of picking 5 or so exercises would work well. I don't think I could hang with all the different exercises as is, and constantly be changing weights.

Let me know what you decide. I think it would be a fun little adventure. I've been trying to run a full body this week and am having fun. Though i am using squats on different days...

The big advantage I see, if I do it basically Tues-Sat, with my work schedule Tues would be the only day off from work that I am in the gym, hence the only day my wife bitches about. I'd probably do something like this:

Tues - York
Wed - Gymless
Thurs - York
Fri - Cardio & abs
Sat - York

I don't know though. I really like my current routine when I get all 6 days in. I may just stick to my guns and say "Tough, it's only 1-2 hours and you'll live without me for that long." We'll see.

Maybe you could try it for a week or two and see if you like/hate it.
