since deadlifts work so many body parts, those guys who have their 8 day splits (strong exageration) cant fit it in anywhere becuase if they put it in on back day it will mess up their recovery for trap day lol

I'd rather just do rows if I could. I know some people have bad backs, so I am wondering more if you can get equal back thickness without deadlifts.

The answer to that question is probably not. Why waste your time. The deadlift is a huge bang for your buck exercise.

I just started incorporating Dls into my routine, and I'm already looking to increase how often I do them.. I'm not that good, at I least I think my form needs improvement...but I still do them. I actually find Stiff Leg DLs easier than standard....

Not necessary, no. But are they useful? Hell yes.

There are plenty of bodybuilders I know who have big backs without deadlifting. It depends on your goals, really. It's my favorite exercise though.

Some weeks I'll go for rack pulls instead of deadlifts, but I only do that if my legs are sore from leg day...in which case I'll do rack pulls to give them more recovery. But I saw the best gains in my back when I started to do deadlifts.
