Default chest dips instead of bench

i've been reading alot about the chest dip being superior for chest development than bench press. What if instead of benching i did weighted chest dips and CGBP. Also i'm going to start btn push presses. If i did this my push workout day would look like this:

Weighted Dips: 3x6-8
BTN Push Press: 4x5
CGBP: 3x4-6

what do you think?

I think it's a solid combo. Really focus on your pecs during dips and you should be good.

Have you given any thought to the possibility of rotating exercises every other workout? Perhaps DB bench presses and dips, or something like that? This isn't something you have to do, but I thought I would bring it up.

definitely. maybe i'll go like three workouts dips, three workouts db press or something like that. I like dips though and i'm interested to see how i'll do with them.

Good exercises all. I don't know that I would rate them "superior" to BP. Maybe from a physique development standpoint...
Strkout, I'm sorry, but I haven't been following your current journal very well, so I'm not so sure what you're up against. However, If you're craving a switch, then weighted dips would be a good choice, but don't forget about using dumbells. I've been just killing my chest the past few weeks simply by adding in a few sets of flat bench dumbells.

They were a staple of mine at one time. I would give them a good, long run and see how you like them. Nothing better then learning by doing.

There are plenty of people how perform weighted dips instead of benching.

haha it's ok, i'm mainly going for the physique development so i'd like to give them a try

weighted dips are a great workout
i've sometimes used them instead of push ups on my A workout.

the thing with dips is you are using BW and moving through space, which is a natural movement. if your shoulders can tolerate it

i wouldnt do it this way, it seems this way everytime you would start making progress, you would be switching exercises.

IMO if this is your only day for press movments, you could add some DB bench on to the end of this.

hmmm good point. I guess i'll start doing the dips for a while and see how they work out then i'll reassess from there
