Default can loaded carries build muscle ?

I have been reading a few articles by Dan John who says that there are 5 fundamental human movements that we should all be performing. The 5 movements being

1.Push
2.pull
3.hinge
4.squat
5.loaded carries

do you think that loaded carries such as farmers, waiters and suitcase walks build can much muscle ?

Definitely.

As for 5 movements... I'm sure the guy knows his stuff and/or has good intentions, and opinions are just that, but yeah, I'd go for a few more - like, splitting those up a bit.

Pull from ~below, ~horizontal pull, and pulldown/pullup would be three, just to start with. At least two of those would be a good idea, IMO. Et cetera.

Again though, that's just *my* opinion. And I am but an intermediate n00b, lol.

Anything progressively overloaded can build muscle. Loaded carries are a better option than those mind muscle connection shrugs with 22.5lbs that the bros do.
