For the usual crowd at my gym during the lunch hour (my workout time):

Overrated--decline bench press
There is only one bench for decline pressing and on Mondays (national chest day) there is a line to use it. Those not wanting to wait in line, use the adjustable benches and do decline DB bench. Sure, it's not a worthless exercise, but too many guys do it just b/c they can press more weight on it than the flat bench.

Underrated--Standing overhead press
I am one of only 2 men that I've seen do them regularly. Great shoulder builder and it teaches balance and focus. When I recommend it others, they tell me that it hurts their back. Well, it hurts their back b/c they have piss poor core strength from using machines and isolation exercises all the damn time.

Over rated: Pullups. I only say that because the guys who can crank out alot of good reps are also too skinny.

Under rated: Sumo deadlift. Too many people say "its not a deadlift." I feel it in my hips and core.

Under-rated: Deads - the most primal movement around.
Pec Deck flys: If an explanation is needed, none is possible.

I dont know about overrated, but i feel the hip thrust is underrated and underutilized. Just looking at the mechanics of the movement, i can see how the entire back muscle chain will get a great workout from heavy hip thrusts.

I don't have enough experience to know for sure, to be completely honest, but okay, I'll have a go at this.

Overrated: Leg extensions - you can get just as much quad work, and "pump" (more, actually!) from stuff like BB hack squats, heavy leg presses, etc., etc.

Underrated: Hack squats - speaking of which , this is a quads killer, without being dodgy, and I've never seen anyone else do them, for example.

I never see anyone do them at the gym either.
