Default How do you usually bench?

Just curious. Not trying to start or end any particular arguments or whatever. Like what is best, etc.

But if you want to explain anything about your poll vote, feel free, of course! Or if you just want to discuss bench form in here. It's all good.

Flat back, feet on the ground for me.

I like to try and engage my core press it back into the bench, makes me feel more stable, when I push the bar up, my feet planted helps me too.

Flat back is a shoulder killer in the long run. Plus, it encourages looseness which is also not conducive for maximal strength, size or shoulder health.

I try to bench feet flat a slight arch in lower back and upper back pressed hard in to the bench with elbows tucked.

Other than a medical condition, I am not sure why anyone would want to bench flat backed. Like Steve said, you are not doing yourself any favors in the injury prevention and progression department.

I would prefer to bench with an arch, and my feet in front of my knees. I had to check that I do it with my feet behind my knees. Caution-before you read further- this will be a tmi moment for some-proceed with caution- I have short legs, which makes reaching the floor flatfooted a bit of a stretch for me under normal circumstances. Since I have been squatting I have built my glutes to the point that when I tighten my glutes to do a bench, I can no longer reach the floor properly. In order to get a stable base and utilize leg drive I have to bench with my feet behind my knees and off my toes as well (which isn't acceptable in the USAPL).
