Shoulder extension... I think. Then again, my understanding of how shoulders (and muscles in general!) work is more than a bit lacking, so it could be something else altogether.

Pretty sure there *is* some sort of pectoralis major action involved, anyway. As well as latissimus dorsi, and a few other things.

Anecdotal, fwiw: I've always felt them in the actual ribcage area most of all (e.g., the intercostals).

Mines probably machine flys.

I don't like normal flies either, all kindzz of pops and cracks in the shoulders, the one or two times I'd tried them. (perhaps I was doing them wrong though.)


But with machine flies, again the once or twice I'd tried them, I didn't feel anything at all, they were just incredibly awkward to do in my opinion.
