Default Well this couldn't be more absurd...

2 – Lift Heavy Ass Weights
What rep range should I use? FAIL! It doesn’t matter – Lift heavy ass weights!
What should my rep speed be? FAIL! It doesn’t matter – Lift heavy ass weights!
Should I do cable crossovers before or after flyes, and should incline bench be performed with a 22 degree angle, or a 24 degree angle? FAIL! It doesn’t matter – Lift heavy ass weights!
What split is the most effective for mass? FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!
GO LIFT HEAVY ASS WEIGHTS!

You can't just walk into the gym and say eh I'll lift to 3 if i feel like it, maybe 4 the next set. Bullshit.

I wrote that. It's hyperbole to stress a point.

There is truth at it's core. It's meant to pull you way from minutiae and get you focused on what really matters, that being dramatically improving strength, food and consistency.

Yeah it's right, but you gotta be careful people don't think that one rep with heavy weight for the day will get them stronger

Don't lecture me.

That's not what I said. Don't turn what I said into absurdity. There's no way in hell I would teach that. But instead of asking, you lecture me. You seem to know a lot about me and my training philosophies.

If you want to have an intelligent discussion, I'm here. If you want to learn something, I am here. If you want to misinterpret something and not ask me to explain, leave.

This forum is about the intelligent exchange of ideas. Are you willing to listen to what it means?

If it offended you it's likely you needed to be offended.

I run heavy singles on the axle clean and press and its going up. Deadlifts. Squats. Semi truck pulls and atlas stones. I can lift whatever the hell I want when I want in whatever rep range I want and make progress. Why? Because I'm a goddamned monster who isn't interested in what I'm supposed to do. I make it happen.

Load the bar. Everything else is hype.

You obviously didn't read the article too well... lmao.

But when it comes to singles, they definitely have their place in the getting huge process. Take a look at Dan Green.

Don't be such a puss.

Dan Green is an interesting choice there. I mean, you're right, in that singles won't hurt. I personally don't think they're necessary for growth at all, but then, what do I know (being serious there).

Why I find Mr. Green an interesting choice is that he grew, to begin with, using a more "bodybuilding" style, according to him. That's how he got so big in the first place (well, that and food and ... ), and apparently he still does a lot of high-ish rep work, in part to stimulate muscle growth specifically.

Singles and co., tend to be more for pure strength gains (and testing, even more so), is what I hear a lot, from some notable powerlifters and others.

Not that I'm agreeing with Sierra at all here, mind you.

If you're lifting more weight each time, why not do this?
