As a fellow novice I understand how hard it can be to figure out the right thing to get started.
I started lifting 4 months ago in November on basically the strong lifts 5x5 routine. I was barely able to bench the bar and struggled to rep 135 on the deadlift.
Every single workout I methodically added 5 lbs to each exercise I did, and now:
I squat 215x5x5 (I'm tall, fuck me)
After only 4 months. I gained a slightly dirty 15-20 pounds as well.
Get on a program like this for 6-12 months and build some brutal strength.

Yeah, forget all that bodypart split stuff. Get stronger on the main compound lifts and everything will start to fall into place.
