Default Shredded Year Round

Bodybuilders know this, but I wanted to pass it along for fun.

I receive a lot of emails from competitors who are ripped and close to competing. When I ask them how things are, I get:

That's a direct quote from an email I was sent this morning. Certainly not a maintainable standard for 99% of humanity.

Who wants to be hungry and irritable all the time? And brain-dead? I'd get fired.

And I question the "full muscles" comment. You can follow people's pre-contest prep pics and they are fairly flat until about the week of the show when they start to fill them back out while keeping the ripped look.

They're in such bad shape the day of the show that some end up being rushed to hospital due to dehydration and that's only if they forget to drink immediately after their show, not even a few hours down the road.

Don't some (a few) also end up tearing/injuring muscles due to extreme posing in such a state? At least, that's what I've read.

This makes me think of poor Andreas Munzer - ripped to the bone all the time, a truly incredible physique, and yet underneath the muscle, a desperately sick young man.

I'm not saying all pro bodybuilders are in such a state, but it's further evidence for BTB's point that what's on the surface and what's going on underneath it are two completely different things.

Although bear in mind being ripped and competition ready is a far-cry from being a healthy 12-15% year round. It's not an excuse to go in the other direction either.

My main reason for posting this is because most young guys that send questions or post on forums don't want to be a healthy 15% year round. They consider this fat or out of shape, and want to know how to get ripped and stay ripped

Elsewhere recently Poundstone was called fat because he was "not ripped", and the discussion basically boiled down to this...if you're not ripped, you're fat. A picture similar to the one attached was presented, and the brohs called it fat.



Believe it or not a good portion of the modern demographic thinks we're all lardbuckets. No exaggeration. Under 10% or fat, you are, Jedi warrior.
