Default Keeping it short and sweet

Will I really benefit from workouts that are short and sweet? I know that I don't need to be at the gym for hours on end but will only lifting for 30 minutes a few times a week really even get me to notice a difference?

Depends on what you're doing in those 30 minutes.
Check out Pull's journal some time. I love that guy's lifting.

If you do compound lifts with intensity and limited rest between sets you'll have one hell of a 30 minute workout.

30 minutes of squats/deadlifts/power cleans/rows/bench/military press/(insert compound movement here) with focus is much better than
90 minutes of farting around doing random stuff.

You can do 3-5 sets of 2-3 compound lifts plus warm up sets if you plan it out.

And OR is right, Pull's log is awesome.

I once read that working out is like doing drugs, when you start even a small amount will have an impact but as the body adjusts you'll need more and more to get the same kick; a poor analogy but it does bring up a perfectly good point...people new to training don't need to "kill" themselves in the gym and a small amount of sensible exercise will go a long way.

And as Titan so subtly states, doing something is better than asking a thousand questions prior to even starting...

I have just started lifting and I am only doing a short amount at once. And I can already tell a difference in how I look and feel.
