Your Desire

MaryEllen 06-12-2013 06:54 PM

or greater than your lack of motivation. I think a lot of people have a great desire to change...they just don't have motivation enough to last through the beginning stages of change.

You have to need change, not just want it.

MaryEllen 06-12-2013 07:01 PM

yep, I agree

Need and want are two different things. you may want to change but until you do anything about it, your life will be the same.

I disagree with this....for 20+ years I was obese and constantly told by my doctors I NEEDED to change or I would die. I did nothing. For 20+ years I was told by my wife I NEEDED to change, or I would not be around to see my kids grow up....I did nothing. For 20+ years I was told by my kids I NEEDED to change, because they wanted thier dad to be around...I did nothing.

Well....I wont say I did nothing, I just couldnt keep it up, because I did not want it.

When I decided I WANTED to change....thats when it happened!!

There is "need" involved, but the need has to come from within..not from being told or pushed by someone else. If you do for others, without the want for yourself, then the change will, most likely, only be temporary. When you gather momentum based on your own desire and needs, that's when you can achieve success.

I still disagree there HAS to be need!!

A LOT of people on here did not "NEED" to get bigger by lifting weights...they do it because they WANT to!!

People in excellent physical shape dont NEED to add 20 lbs of muscle, they do it because they WANT to

Yes, sometimes there is a Need, but its not a requirement!

I totally get what you are saying..but even WANT is not enough. Everyone wants for things, but that doesn't mean they get have to be motivated...and eventually, as i like to see it, become addicted to change.
