There are probably dozens of reasons people decide to get in better shape...Im just saying NEED is not a requirement
Best Gym Lifts...Dosen't matter....they don't count!
Best Meet Lifts:
Squat = 325
Bench = 209
Dead = 368
Total = 902
The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Perhaps this would be clearer if we distinguish between WISH and WANT.
A lot of people WISH they could be in great shape, or are told by others that they need to be in better shape.
It is not until the WISH (external, distant) becomes internalized into a WANT, and acted upon by determination and will, to become a priority, that change happens.
Three important factors in success:
1) Confidence (that you can do it)
2) Knowledge (how to do it)
3) Priority (do it consistently, intensely, don't let it get bumped by life)

Physical transformation is a mind game, first and foremost, including the decision to push for "one more rep".

But again, I totally agree (that will is key).
In any given direction, wishes and wants and desires and thoughts and all manner of other things can come and go, wax and wane, but will is (or at least can be) eternal.
