I am a 58 year old healthy male. I lifted free weights in my 20's for about 2 years. At this stage of my life, and because I want to start training in the martial art called systema, I decided to restart my free weight training as a beginning powerlifter before I segue into bodybuilding. I am doing my training in this order because I want to gain as much power and speed as quickly as I can. Can anyone inform me if I have chosen the correct path training-wise? Thank You.

Glad to be aboard, trying to get back in shape. Metabolism slowed down a few years ago and things are getting soft.

Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to digging around on the site.

I got linked here by an article over at, "Determing natural BB potential".

I've been lifting on and off my since I was 15. Lifted hard through the 90's while I was in the Army, and then had an 8yr layoff. Been back at it for, for 3yrs now. Had a bad injury during that time so was off again during that time. I'm back, and feeling ready to kick some ass.

I'm going old school in my approach. Reg Park old school to be precise. Going to follow his approach, and get my diet nailed. Strength, and power are my main focus.
