Heard a pop
A few weeks ago a buddy of mine at the gym had his neck pop. He felt it and we all heard it. It was not terribly loud but loud enough. He is not complaining that it hurts or anything like that. I was worried about him and thought he should have it checked out. He said he was fine. Do you think that maybe later this will come back to haunt him in long run not having it looked at?

Popping and crackling sounds are pretty normal...I had one lecturer that sounded like a bowl of Rice Crispies going off, whenever he stretched his arms out to the side; some of the popping can be caused by areas that are not used to being stretched or have not been stretched, when people start stretching them on a regular basis, however, the popping can and usually does disappear entirely.
Calcium deposits, I believe, can also cause popping. Unless he's feeling discomfort, he's probably fine.

If it doesn't hurt, don't worry about it for the most part. If it was something that was going to be a problem, he would most likely be in a noticeable amount of pain by now.

could have just been fascia release. No pain no foul, I got a huge pop in my thigh adductors yesterday, felt great actually. lol
